NR Robotics
North Ridge Robotics had its start in the 2006-2007 school year when a NASA Explorer Schools grant was used to purchase LEGO Mindstorms RCX Robot kits. Fifth graders met after school to learn programming and engineering skills that enabled them to have their robots complete tasks for a simulated space mission. Students were able to compete in a Southern California NES Robotics Competition at JPL for many years; they earned 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place honors every year they competed.
Today the RCX robots have been retired and the new EV3 Robots have come to North Ridge. Fifth graders continue the robotics tradition as they learn and practice math, science, and programming skills to control their robots.
